Editorial policy
Independence
A business cannot buy its way into this directory, out of it, or up it. Inclusion is free and does not depend on any commercial relationship. Payment never changes a listing’s verification status and never changes its position in organic results. Nothing on this site is written on behalf of a listed business, and no listed business reviews this copy before it is published.
Where listings come from
Records are compiled from open and licensed data sources and from companies’ own published websites, plus submissions sent in through the forms on this site. Every published listing carries its own provenance: the source type, the fields it supports, the link it came from, its license where the source states one, and when it was retrieved. That provenance is shown on the listing page rather than hidden behind a badge.
Records here are unverified unless a listing says otherwise, and that is stated plainly rather than glossed over. A verification label, where one exists, describes only whether details matched a source; it is never a judgment of quality, workmanship, or price. Organic listing order is unranked: it is not a league table.
What is never invented
Which pages get published
Category and location pages are an editorial allowlist, not an automatic cross-product. A combination is published only when it has both enough matching published businesses and original written content about that combination. Anything that does not clear that bar returns a not-found response, is excluded from the sitemap, and is never linked internally, so the site does not generate thin pages to chase search traffic. Draft and suppressed records are excluded everywhere a page reads data, including structured data and the sitemap.
Reviews and ratings
Where review content from another platform appears on a listing, it is shown with its source named and, in the case of Google, loaded live from Google when the page opens rather than copied into this directory’s database. Where a listing page offers a review form, a review must describe the writer’s own first-hand experience, is checked by an editor before it appears, and is published under the display name given. An email address is required so an editor can follow up, and it is not published. Reviews are not solicited, bought, filtered by sentiment, or removed because a business dislikes them; they are removed when they are fake, abusive, or about the wrong business.
Advertising disclosure
This directory can carry paid placement and display advertising, and it says so wherever it does. Featured and sponsored listings are always labeled in text, not by color alone, and are visually separated from ordinary results. Advertising containers are labeled “Advertisement,” reserve their space before loading, and are never styled to look like a listing or placed beside the controls you use to browse.
There is no advertising on the pages where it would undermine trust or a task: the correction, claim, and submission forms, the sponsors page, the owner dashboard, and these policy pages. Outbound links to businesses’ websites are qualified so they do not pass search ranking credit, and paid links additionally carry a sponsored qualification. Paid placement applies only to relevant categories and searches, does not guarantee traffic or leads, and is not an editorial endorsement. See the sponsors page for what is actually sold.
Corrections and complaints
Mistakes are fixed rather than quietly deleted, and a corrected record shows its updated date. Anyone can report an error from the listing it appears on: see corrections for how that works, or data removal requests to ask for a record to be taken down. How listings are discovered, checked, and maintained day to day is described in more detail in the methodology.
